Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Malawi Parliament\u2019s Public Appointments Committee (PAC) on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 voted in support of newly appointed Inspector General (IG) of Police Merlyne Nachulu Yolamu.<\/p>\n

This comes as Yolamu on Wednesday morning appeared before PAC twhere she was interviewed following her appointment as IG by President Lazarus Chakwera last week.<\/p>\n

The Maravi Post understands that out of 18 members of the committee 17 voted for Yolamu while 1 member voted against her. Three members of the Committee did not cast their vote as they were engaged with other parliamentary duties.<\/p>\n

PAC Chairperson Joyce Chitsulo said the committee will a report to the whole House for Yolamu\u2019s confirmation process on Friday. Chitsulo however told reporters that the Committee sought guidance from Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on allegations that Yolamu is implicated in corruption food ratio scandal. ACB is said to have cleared Yolamu.<\/p>\n
