Unfortunately, Malawi has been dependent on hydro electricity power only from time immemorial. We keep depending on the same hoping to do better but the same mistakes keep coming.<\/p>\n

Electricity is an essential part of modern life and important to the economy of Malawi. People use electricity for lighting, heating, cooling, and refrigeration and for operating appliances, computers, electronics, machinery, and many systems.<\/p>\n

There are some businesses that use the most electricity. Commercial Customers. This sector accounts for more electricity consumption. The biggest single uses of electricity in the commercial sector are lighting and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.<\/p>\n

Electricity has a great impact on the economy. Electricity consumption can promote economic growth, through which electricity consumption can to some extent enhance the production of capital, labor and technique; economic growth can in turn increase the demand for electricity consumption, which indicates the inherent relationship between them.<\/p>\n

We face many problems when there is no electricity. There is usually no power to use your fridge or freezer, telephone lines go down and phone signals get lost. Your mobile phones become useless as the battery dwindles, with no back up charging option. Your gas central heating stops working and your water supply soon stops pumping clean water.<\/p>\n

Solutions<\/b><\/p>\n

There are some possible solutions for power outage which government could offer. Use generators to supplement our embattled hydro electricity power generation.<\/p>\n

Gas stoves should be affordable for Malawians to buy and use to heat their homes. Have alternate plans for refrigerating medicines or using power-dependent medical devices for our hospitals.<\/p>\n

Lack of electricity can be prevented. Below are interesting solutions for Energy-Impoverished Malawi: 1) Make electricity a human right. 2) Focus on public health.<\/p>\n

3) Changing attitudes of political leaders.<\/p>\n

4) Create economic incentives for power companies.<\/p>\n

5) Increase funding for electricity generation.<\/p>\n

6) Think local<\/p>\n

7) Reduce energy theft.<\/p>\n

8) Invest in solar power.<\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/b><\/p>\n

However, it is disappointing that our political leaders were busy giving us a list of lamentations during their self styled Government meets the press, like Job in the Bible, instead of providing workable solutions to Malawians. Worst of all, the minister of energy ended up giving us tears as Malawians waited in vain for possible solutions. Tears won\u2019t solve our problems !<\/p>\n
