Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>News are awash in social media platforms about Brown Mpinganjira\u2019s tendency of dumping an opposition party opting for a ruling party. Recently, Mpinganjira fondly called BJ has joined Malawi Congress Party (MCP) after dumping the embattled main opposition party, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).<\/p>\n

BJ is a professional political prostitute and an opportunist because he also dumped the United Democratic Front (UDF) and DPP in reference to the ruling party.<\/p>\n

In my view, there is nothing wrong in what BJ is doing because he is just exercising his Constitutional rights and freedoms. It is up to him to determine whether such opportunistic tendencies are benefiting him or not.<\/p>\n

From Section 32 to Section 40 of the Malawi Constitution respectively, stipulate that every person is entitled to freedom of labour, freedom of association, freedom of conscience, freedom of opinion, freedom of expression, freedom of the press, access to information, freedom of assembly, and freedom of movement and residence. It is therefore important to avoid discriminating BJ on the basis of his political prostitution tendencies.<\/p>\n

Section 20 of the Malawi Constitution condemns discrimination in all forms \u201d Discrimination of persons in any form is prohibited and all persons are, under any law, guaranteed equal and effective protection against discrimination on grounds of race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national, ethnic or social origin, disability, property, birth or other status or condition.\u201d<\/p>\n

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate MCP for fishing out big political zealots from the main opposition party. During John Tembo\u2019s reign, MCP was a mostly a Central region and Chewa Party. Under President Chakwera\u2019s leadership, MCP managed to penetrate into the DPP stronghold through the late Sheikh Sidik Mia. It is expected that BJ will continue the good work of Mia in strengthening the party in the southern region.<\/p>\n

As for DPP, it is a big blow lesson. It should put its house in order. It is a known fact that disunity and squabbles led them into the loss of the 2020 fresh presidential elections.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, DPP did not learn anything from their 2020 presidential election loss. Instead, they opted for the leader of opposition who is serving two masters, MCP and DPP.<\/p>\n

Recently, Kondwani Nankhumwa forwent parliamentary proceedings in reference to attending President Chakwera\u2019s public function and his own political rally.<\/p>\n

All in all, let any bonafide Malawian exercise their freedom of assembly and association. Those who love the Party will remain members forever because a party is supposed to be bigger than individuals and not the vicerversa.<\/p>\n
