Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Nyasa Big Bullets yesterday failed to collect maximum points for the third consecutive game in their pursuit to defend the TNM Super League title. The People\u2019s Team came from behind to force a 1-1 draw against Blue Eagles in a tightly contested match at Kamuzu Stadium yesterday.<\/p>\n

The result means that the gap between the two teams remains at eight points. Second half goals from Trouble Banda for the policemen and Bullets\u2019 Chimwemwe Idana ensured that the teams shared the spoils and eventually replicate the first round result which ended in a similar margin.<\/p>\n

Bullets remain top of the table with 58 from 24 games while Blue Eagles are second with 50 points with 24 games played as well. The fierce battle lived up to its billing as both teams displayed a classic football especially in the second half.<\/p>\n

It was a game of few chances as the first half registered little highlights with Schumacher Kuwali for Eagles and Bullets\u2019 Anthony Mfune squandering their scoring opportunities.<\/p>\n

The visitors sat back and closed all spaces to tame the hosts\u2019 attacking machinery. The policemen were organised in defence and ensured that Bullets striker and the league\u2019s second leading goal scorer Babatunde Adepoju was under watch.<\/p>\n

The two teams suffered setbacks in the first half as they both lost their influential players due to injuries. The Eagles lost goal poacher Kuwali while the People\u2019s Team were dealt a major blow after losing left fullback Precious Sambani.<\/p>\n

After the break, Eagles came with renewed purpose when they took the game to Bullets and in the 67th minute unmarked Micium Mhone received a telling pass before crossing it into the box where Banda made no mistake when he connected into the net beating Clever Nkungula in goals for the visitors to take the lead.<\/p>\n

However, Eagles\u2019 lead was short-lived as Idana finished an interchange of passes by firing past the visitors\u2019 goal custodian Brighton Munthali for the People\u2019s Team to get an equaliser.<\/p>\n

It was however a bad result for both teams, who were looking for maximum points, after dropping points in their previous encounters. Bullets remain winless in three assignment after their previous assignments against Civil Service United and last week\u2019s Silver Strikers ended in draws.<\/p>\n

However, Bullets Coach Calisto Pasuwa remains positive that his rebuilding exercise is on track. \u201cI am proud of the boys. We are building a new team and this is a team [Blue Eagles] that could easily beat us and take away the points but they have failed,\u201d Pasuwa said.<\/p>\n

Eagles Coach Eliya Kananji, whose team is coming from a defeat against Ekwendeni Hammers last week, was contented with the result. \u201cWe took the lead but a simple lapse in defence has cost us the points. But that is what happens in the game and I praise my players for giving it all,\u201d Kananji said.<\/p>\n

In another game played yesterday, Silver Strikers lost to visitors Mighty Tigers 1-0 at Bingu National Stadium. George Chaomba scored the lone goal. In other matches, Patrick Phiri and Damiano Kunje were target as Civil Service United beat Rumphi United 2-1. Zikani Munthali scored for Rumphi. Dedza Dynamos beat Mafco 1-0 courtesy of Charles Chipala\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n
