Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>It has been revealed that despite the much publicized court sanctioned mediation talks over Leader of Opposition position, the PAGE House camp, christened \u201cMadala team\u201d of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader Peter Mutharika is adamant to seeing the removal Kondwani Nankhumwa.<\/p>\n

According to our sources, PAGE House has now thrown into the fray the name of DPP Vice President for the Eastern Region Bright Msaka as replacement for Nankhumwa.<\/p>\n

\u201cPAGE House strategists have realized the choice of Dr George Chaponda as Leader of Opposition did not enjoy favorable publicity hence the change\u201d, revealed our source.<\/p>\n

It is believed the choice of Msaka, who is also seen to be one of Mutharika\u2019s blue-eyed boys than Chaponda, has also been influenced by former first Lady Gertrude Mutharika who is reportedly supporting Msaka\u2019s candidature for DPP President next year.<\/p>\n

During the mediation talks on Friday, both sides agreed to nullify the June 26 PAGE House resolution that elected George Chaponda as Leader if Opposition replacing Nankhumwa.<\/p>\n

However, the talks might collapse since the Chaponda side has refused to pend their signatures to the mediation settlement order because they are not in agreement with certain clauses in the draft settlement order.<\/p>\n

The case is back in court on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 where both parties will report to the court on the progress. With such developments, indications are that the case might go on a full trial.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile some legal minds have weighed in on the resolution of the mediation process stating it has to be effected at all cost because it\u2019s coming as a result of a court order.<\/p>\n
