Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Following the decrease of COVID-19 cases in the country with only four new cases as of October 6, 2022 and two patients with no death case, Ministry of Health have lifted the mandatory face masks.<\/p>\n

Minister of Health, Khumbize Kandodo told news conference on Friday, October 7 2022 in the capital Lilongwe that despite the ministry stopping the mandatory face masking but everyone has responsibility to put on a mask.<\/p>\n

Currently Malawi\u2019s COVID-19 rate is at 0.5 percent. Kandodo said Malawi has 146 active cases which means that the country is still at risk of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

The minister said only 22 percent of the country\u2019s citizen are the ones that have received COVID-19 vaccines despite its 50 percent target. She adds that all risks places the like of prisons, hospital, public transport and refugee camps are still on mandatory .<\/p>\n

Kandondo also disclosed that the ministry has lifted the limitation of number of people to gather in any functions. She therefore appealed to Malawians to take full responsibility of making sure that COVID-19 cases keep decreasing to meet up the free pandemic measures. Meanwhile, Malawi is also is expected to receive two million COVID-19 doses from next week.<\/p>\n
