Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>One of the county\u2019s major beer brewing companies Castel Malawi Limited has temporarily suspended the production of its spirits beer over persistent shortage of forex in the country.<\/p>\n

The spirits include Malawi Gin, Premier Brandy and Malawi Vodka. In a statement Maravi Post has seen, the company\u2019s management says, the situation will now lead to the shortage of the mentioned spirits on the market.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe business is currently failing to bring in packaging materials to sustain the supply of these loved spirit brands.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoupled with the high excise rates spirits attract (110%) that push the prices up, the temporary suspension of production becomes the only decision for the business in the current environment,\u201d reads part of the statement.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the company has advised its regular customers that more favourable conditions will be in place to restart the production of these iconic and exportable products.<\/p>\n
