Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly who is also Democratic Progressive Party ( DPP ) Vice President for the Southern Region Kondwani Nankhumwa has given President Lazarus 14 days to solve to some of the challenges poor Malawians are currently going through, threatening that failure to do this within the given period, he will mobilize nationwide demonstrations.<\/p>\n

He was speaking on Thursday October 13, 2022 at Grace Bandawe Conference Centre ( GBCC) as he was addressing members of the media on some issues of national importance.<\/p>\n

Nankhumwa cited hunger, raising of corruption cases, fuel and forex scarcity as some of the major challenges Chakwera must solve at the moment. He said Malawians have suffered a lot under his administration contrary to what he was promising during campaign.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want him to come up with tangible solutions to some of the challenges poor Malawians are facing in the country. Chakwera said Malawians should expect change from his UNGA trip but nothing is changing into better.<\/p>\n

\u201d The cost of living is still high, there is still no forex and fuel in the country. So, we are giving him 14 days to solve these challenges,\u201d he said. He wondered why up to now Affordable Input Program ( AIP) beneficiaries have not been told the way forward about Program.<\/p>\n

\u201d Despite that we are approaching the rainy season, AIP beneficiaries have not yet bought the cheap fertilizer and even do not know where the issue is,\u201d wondered Nankhumwa.<\/p>\n

The Opposition leader went on to accuse Chakwera and other Tonse Alliance top officials for staying quite and not acting on the alleged MK30 billion meant for AIP that has gone missing despite that they know the truth about the matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey should not lie to you that this has not happened, it has happened and they know the truth about this.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we want is that ACB should intervene into the matter until the culprits are brought to book. We have evidence that this happened and even the government itself knows about this,\u201d said Nankhumwa. Chakwera is failing to have formula in ending social-economic ills Malawians are going through over two years in power.<\/p>\n
