Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>In a bid to improve welfare of the orphans and strengthen their relationship with members of the public, Mangochi Police Women Network organised a fundraising big walk where they raised a sum of K900,000.<\/p>\n

The big walk which was conducted jointly with female officers from Immigration and Prison Services took place on November 3, 2022 from Mangochi Police Station to Makawa Trading Centre. The funds will be donated to 100 orphans under Malawi Children\u2019s Village Orphanage Centre which is located along Mangochi-Monkey-Bay Road.<\/p>\n

Leader of the grouping Violet Kamwendo Assistant Commissioner of Police urged members of the public to join hands with the police and contribute a little something in order to lessen the burden faced by the orphans to aid their upbringing.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have not lived once until you do something to someone who will never repay you and blessed is the hand that gives,\u201d Kamwendo said. Apparently, the women are appealing to well-wishers to donate writing materials, soap, clothes, shoes, school necessities or cash.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the female law enforcers are extending their gratitude to the District Commissioner Dr Raphael Piringu, Officer In-charge Timothy Phiri Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Eastern Regional lmmigration Officer Senior Superintendent Dyce Mmeta, Officer In-charge Mangochi Prison Service Superintendent Dennis Luka, business personnel and members of the community for the helping hand.<\/p>\n

The grouping was established in the MPS with an aim of promoting women empowerment and ensuring gender mainstreaming and equality in the service. Charity work is one of the activities by the network.<\/p>\n
