Beyond the manifesto assumptions, some positive developments of Malawi were expected from this government to change the economy. Can the existence of government in Malawi be justified today as people struggle more than ever before?<\/p>\n

Just wait a minute, Malawians have not yet finished struggling. More challenges are going to come ahead of us as we walk towards 2025 and it won\u2019t be easy. The people of this country will struggle even more than they have struggled before because we have a leader who is vision less and cannot listen or understand his own manifesto.<\/p>\n

While assessing other aspects such as organizational structure, financial base, forms of mobilization, intra-party democracy and leadership styles is informative, this write up is anchored in the argument that the linkage function can be understood better by considering people\u2019s anger, attitudes and assessment of the government.<\/p>\n

Therefore, this opinion of relevance of President Lazarus Chakwera\u2019s Tonse Alliance government is achieved by looking at adult Malawians\u2019 opinion and attitudes regarding attachment to government, trust in government, and the responsiveness of political party manifestos to problems expressed by the people, as well as individuals\u2019 level of contact with government.<\/p>\n

The discussion shares the views of Malawians whose attitudes towards government and evaluation of their performance reinforce each other. Malawians are simply sick and tired of the many challenges they are facing everyday; corruption , electricity outages, lack of foreign exchange, you name it, the list is long.<\/p>\n

Corruption in law enforcement can jeopardise people\u2019s safety and victims\u2019 access to justice. On the one hand, corruption in law enforcement can drive human right violations such as ill-treatment or torture in the hands of officers including in detention settings or through police practices.<\/p>\n

The Level Of Corruption in Malawi<\/b><\/p>\n

The \u201cCorruption Perceptions Index\u201d for the public sector showed 65 points in Malawi for 2021. The scale has a range from 0 to 100. The more corruption rises, the higher the number is. With this result Malawi ranks 111st. So, compared to other countries, it is slightly below average.<\/p>\n

Compared to the present year, in 2022, the level of corruption is increasing tremendously. In the long term, it will rise very highly more than we could expect.<\/p>\n

(1) Corruption and the violation of human rights comprise a social phenomenon which concerns the distribution of benefits among different groups of people and individuals. In the discourse of international law also, the prevalence of corruption is now considered to be a violation of basic human rights.<\/p>\n

The most recent Afrobarometer survey suggests that work remains to be done in the battle against corruption. A majority of Malawians say that corruption is increasing and that the government is performing poorly in dealing with the vice.<\/p>\n

(2) Corruption erodes the trust we have in the public sector to act in our best interests. It also wastes our taxes or rates that have been earmarked for important community projects \u2013 meaning we have to put up with poor quality services or infrastructure, or we miss out altogether.<\/p>\n

(3) Causes of public sector corruption Country size. Country age. Resource curse. Political instability. Wages. Lack of rule of law. Failure of governance. Size of government.<\/p>\n

(4) Corruption is the abuse of power or position for personal gain. There are many forms of corruption, including bribery, embezzlement, and extortion. For example, a purchasing agent for a company might take a bribe from a supplier. In return, the purchasing agent will pay more than the usual price for the goods.<\/p>\n
