Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Three coaches have lodged a complaint with the National Football Coaches Association (NFCA) over unpaid bonuses and allowances from their former employers that date back to May this year. The development comes a week after the 2022-23TNM Super League season wound up.<\/p>\n

Details indicate that former TN Stars coach Kondwani Mwalweni, former Sable Farming coach Joseph Malizani and Ellias Chirambo, formerly of Rumphi United, have formally requested the intervention of their mother body.<\/p>\n

All the three coaches are demanding unpaid game bonuses, salaries and allowances. However, the coaches were axed before the end of the season due to poor results.<\/p>\n

Ironically, all the three teams were relegated from the Super League in the just ended season. In an interview, NFCA General Secretary Davie Mpima said the coaches complained of unfair treatment from their former employers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndeed, some of our members have raised several issues. We are just following up with their respective clubs. Once we finalise everything, we will be able to make a decision on the matter,\u2019\u2019 Mpima said.<\/p>\n

Details indicate that all the three coaches are owed bonuses and allowances for over five months. Stars General Secretary Bester Ngwale confirmed owing Mwalweni but insisted he breached terms of the contract when he absconded duties.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is sad that he did not fulfil some of the contractual obligations. He asked for permission to travel to his home district to sort out personal issues but he never returned. On our part, we will also lodge a complaint against him,\u201d Ngwale said.<\/p>\n

Mwalweni said the club owes him bonuses and allowances for five months. Stars were relegated from the TNM Super League, having finished on position 15 with 17 points.<\/p>\n

On his part, Sable Chairperson Dyless Kachala said the delay was due to logistical challenges. \u201cWe will sort out the issue very soon and we already assured him that he will get his arrears,\u201d Kachala said.<\/p>\n

Sable fired Malizani in the first round and replaced him with Macdonald Mtetemera. However, Mtetemera failed to save them as they were relegated after finishing on position 14 with 24 points.<\/p>\n

When contacted Monday, Chirambo said he lodged a complaint to the coaches\u2019 body demanding money for five months. \u201cI exhausted all channels to get my money, to no avail. I am really disappointed with the conduct of club officials,\u201d Chirambo said.<\/p>\n

However, Rumphi General Secretary Jones Mockton described the claims as \u201cbaseless\u201d. \u201cHe does not have a contract with us. It is very unfair for him to make such claims,\u2019\u2019 Mockton said.<\/p>\n

Chirambo took over from Gilbert Chirwa as Rumphi coach but left the club before the end of the season. Rumphi finished the season bottom, with 10 points from 30 matches.<\/p>\n
