Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Civil Service United Coach Franco Ndawa has stepped down after accepting an offer to return to the Malawi Defence Force (MDF). Ndawa tendered his resignation letter to Civil management Thursday.<\/p>\n

Both the coach and Civil General Secretary Ronald Chiwaula confirmed the development. Ndawa said MDF had assigned him other duties in Blantyre. \u201cIt is time to say goodbye to Civil. I enjoyed working with the players, technical panel and management. I wish the team all the best,\u201d Ndawa said.<\/p>\n

It is yet to be seen what duties MDF has assigned to Ndawa as the military institution does not have a team in Blantyre. The teams representing the soldiers in the TNM Super League are Kamuzu Barracks, Moyale Barracks, Mafco and Red Lions.<\/p>\n

MDF also has Changalume Barracks and Cobbe Barracks in the Southern Region Football Association League Premier Division. Ndawa\u2019s exit from Civil likely means that assistant coach Oscar Kaunda will be promoted to the position of head coach.<\/p>\n

Kaunda is eligible to lead a Super League team, having obtained a Caf B Coaching Licence, which is a minimum qualification for coaches. Chiwaula said the club\u2019s management will discuss the matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cActually, I have just received the letter from Ndawa. We wish him well,\u201d Chiwaula said.<\/p>\n

Ndawa is leaving the civil servants without winning any silverware in four seasons. In the just-ended season, Civil finished eighth with 45 points from 30 matches. This is against a fourth-place finish in the 2020-21 season.<\/p>\n
