Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Association of Malawians in Ireland has constructed a house worth K2.9 million for a woman aged 82 in Mangochi. The association which was formed in 2004, is a charity organization which is targeting the plight of needy and all marginalized person\u2019s in Malawi.<\/p>\n

According to Henry Mkumbira, President of the Association, the construction of the house is the beginning of various charity activities the grouping is planning to be undertaking with an aim of uplifting the lives of the elderly and marginalized Malawians.<\/p>\n

Mkumbira stressed that the grouping has plans to be building houses for the elderly annually. \u201cWe will build houses for the needy every year,\u201d said Mkumbira.<\/p>\n

According to Mkumbira, the project was pegged at K2,950,000 which included building a separate kitchen, toilet and bathroom. In her own words, the beneficiary Gogo Wetu aged 82 praised the Association for a timely blessing.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the District Social Welfare officer for Mangochi Daud Saliwa said Gogo Wetu was identified because she was living in a small shelter with her 15 grand children.<\/p>\n

And on his part group village headman for the area, Kasila, asked the association to continue with the good gesture and that more needy and elderly people should be targeted.<\/p>\n
