Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Nyasa Big Bullets players have all the reasons to walk tall after their sponsors gave them K35 million to share among themselves as a reward for winning the TNM Super League and FDH Bank Cup.<\/p>\n

Nyasa Manufacturing Company (NMC) Chairperson Konrad Buckle, who is also the team\u2019s president, made the announcement during the players\u2019 award night at Comesa Hall in Blantyre on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should understand that the players, the technical team, supporters and all those involved have put much effort for us to be where we are today. So we decided to give them something to make them believe that all the hard work they have done this year has paid off,\u201d Buckle said.<\/p>\n

Dressed in NMC branded black suits, white shirts and red neckties, the players were over the moon when they heard the news and rushed to the front to dance with their president.<\/p>\n

During the night, Bullets awarded players for their exceptional performance in the 2022 season. This is the second year that the team is recognising the best performing players.<\/p>\n

Player of the season award went to Bullets defender Gomezgani Chirwa, who was outstanding and consistent throughout the season covering the back and providing assists and scoring goals in attack. Clever Nkungula was voted best goalkeeper while Precious Sambani was named best defender. Ernest Petro was selected as an outstanding midfielder.<\/p>\n

TNM Super League golden boot award winner Babatunde Adepoju snatched the striker of the year award while discovery of the season went to Patrick Mwaungulu. Chikumbutso Salima\u2019s exploits in the FDH Bank Cup could not go unnoticed as he was selected Bullets Reserve player of the year.<\/p>\n

Each player received K750,000 for winning an award. The People\u2019s Team recognised legends Lawrence Waya, Kanjeza Kamwendo and Kinnah Phiri. Bullets Reserve coach Enos Chatama and Bullets senior team mentor Kalisto Pasuwa received certificates of honour.<\/p>\n

Bullets vice president Fleetwood Haiya said it was important to hold the event to honour great work and effort. \u201cWe have the main and reserve teams doing well, the ladies team also impressive and all these could not go unrecognised. And to couple it all, the president has given the players K35 million and this is not a mean achievement,\u201d Haiya said.<\/p>\n

Sports and Youth Minister Richard Chimwendo Banda, who was guest of honour, was impressed with the event. \u201cI am impressed with what the company continues doing to the team. They continue pouring more resources to the team and this is commendable,\u201d Chimwendo Banda said.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Chirwa, who won the top accolade, was delighted with the award and pledged to continue helping the team excel in various competitions including Caf Champions League.<\/p>\n
