Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>It is now evident and clear more than ever before that Malawians are very sick and tired of President Lazarus Chakwera. The President was ignored at Masintha ground on Saturday, December 3, 2022, where he addressed an empty ground.<\/p>\n

The popular Masintha ground was patronised mainly by young children who had nothing serious to do and security who were on duty but most adults stayed in their homes relaxing or minded their own business. The speech made by the President was mostly empty and meaningless as it did not motivate anyone gathered at the ground.<\/p>\n

It was only Minister of Gender Patricia Kaliati who spoke something sensible when she advised the President to look into the Agricultural Inputs Program (AIP) fertilizer subsidy seriously which she said was a flop and not working on the ground. \u201d Your Excellency, the AIP fertilizer subsidy program is not moving smoothly. There are many challenges which must be looked into and sorted out,\u201d said Kaliati.<\/p>\n

When the President stood up to make a speech, he said he would make sure people living with disabilities got loans to uplift their living standards. The President sounded a lost man in his own world as he addressed two or three tents of people with disabilities. The rest of the ground was empty and even party call boys could not spotted anywhere near the venue.<\/p>\n

Many Malawians we have spoken to about the Chakwera administration are disappointed with the current leadership and do not have any kind words. The citizens of Malawi are furious with government corruption, selective justice, high cost of living, hostile business environment, nepotism, indecisiveness by leadership on important matters to mention and failing to deliver their own campaign promises.<\/p>\n

Chakwera left Masintha ground like a defeated champion at his own home ground with all car windows completely closed. The smile that usually shows through the car side windows could not be seen this time around and it appears the people\u2019s views have finally reached the President.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is actually a waste of time listening to President Lazarus Chakwera because he doesn\u2019t have any idea of what he wants to do for Malawi. He is just good at his American English but we cannot develop this nation with his accent, all we need is a leader who can make things happen,\u201d said Uncle Lilo Benjamin, one of the residents in Kawale just a stone throw away distance from Masintha ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the President came to Masintha ground just to fulfill his program and draw allowances thereafter. Otherwise, Chakwera has lost public trust and political support as well,\u201d said Gabriel Phiri, another resident of Kawale.<\/p>\n

\u201cMCP is very clever, they will continue to rule in 2025 because we have a weak opposition so far. Malawi Congress Party is always well organised during elections time, they will use all the resources they have and within their reach to convince the electorate,\u201d said one of the graduates (name withheld) who did not want to be named.<\/p>\n
