Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Malawi National Netball team players on Thursday, August 25, 2022 had to forget their non paid allowance issues and concentrate on games as they outsmarted Neighbors Zambia 61-49 in the ongoing Africa Netball World Cup qualifiers tournament in South Africa.<\/p>\n

The win means Malawi has finished pool B games with a 100 percent record having won all the three games, against Kenya 72-31, e-Swatini 69-50 before today\u2019s 61-49 against Copper Queens of Zambia.<\/p>\n

The Queens have kept their hopes of winning the championship of the competition and at the same time qualifying for the 2023 Netball World Cup in South Africa.<\/p>\n

Peace Chawinga, Queens coach, was pleased with the victory saying Zambia gave them a good run of their money as they play almost similar with Malawi.She however said what was needed was the win to top pool B.<\/p>\n

Chawinga further said, they are going to plan well as they meet Zimbabwe tomorrow which is now a crucial stage as it is knock out. Zambian Coach, Charles Zulu acknowledged the defeat saying Malawi gave them fatigue through their towering shooter,and said they struggled a lot in the mid court.<\/p>\n

Zulu also said they have mastered how South Africa are playing hence to work on areas of weaknesses to get victory tomorrow. Malawi will now face Zimbabwe who finished second in pool A in the semifinals while Zambia who also qualified from pool B as second placed will battle it out against the host South Africa who finished as pool A winners.<\/p>\n

Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) through its General Secretary Isaac Chimwala has since congratulated the girls for the superb display saying this means the campaign to World Cup qualifiers is on right track.<\/p>\n

\u201cVery good news and Congratulations to our girls for the good job well executed, we are on right track, We hope they maintain the pace against Zimbabwe tomorrow and meet either South Africa or Zambia in the finals\u201d,<\/p>\n

\u201cCoach had enough lessons drawn from South Africa play during Commonwealth games and she has definitely worked on this. We wish her and the entire team all the best in the remaining games \u201c,Chimwala said.<\/p>\n
