Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>The High Court on Friday concluded hearing a case in which United Democratic Front former publicity secretary Ken Ndanga and 11 others are alleged to have been involved in the torching of UTM offices in Lilongwe, killing three people in the process.<\/p>\n

It has been almost three years since the incident occurred. High Court Judge Anabel Ntalimanja has given the State and defence lawyers 30 days to file their submissions.<\/p>\n

Ndanga, co-accused Hassan Kassim and others were charged with three counts of murder in connection with the death of three members of the Tambala family after UTM offices were allegedly torched in May 2020.<\/p>\n

Senior State advocate Pirirani Masanjala said the State has finished arguing its case. \u201cThe State finished its case and we are ready to file submissions in 30 days,\u201d Masanjala said.<\/p>\n

The Tambala family used to reside in a building which used to serve as UTM office. In the early hours of May 5 2020, the building was petrol-bombed and members of the Tambala family suffered burns. They were taken to Kamuzu Central Hospital where Seleman Tambala, his wife Ayiles Tambala and 11-year-old son Shukran died.<\/p>\n
