Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Veteran gospel musician and worshipper Frank Chimpanzi, famed for the hit \u2018Bwerani\u2019, returns to the fold with a fifth album titled Something New. Chimpanzi is set to launch the album on April 29 2023 when he will be holding a concert themed \u2018Restored\u2019 at Golden Peacock in Blantyre.<\/p>\n

In a press statement, the gospel musician, who has been out of the limelight, says he will be engaged in a live DVD recording during the \u2018Restored\u2019 concert.<\/p>\n

The statement further says that the concert is themed \u2018Restored\u2019 because it is a blend of the artist\u2019s old popular and new songs and that it carries the richness of his musical journey acquired by his exposure on the international music stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is all in celebration of God\u2019s restoration power which I have personally experienced through the power of music and a birthing of a new sound which culminated in the album Something New,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Chimpanzi adds that when God restores, the brokenness is unrecognisable and that it is replaced with something new and superior. The gospel star described Something New as a fresh internationally produced album which was recorded live and produced by Joyous Celebration music director Siyanqoba Mthethwa.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe forthcoming album is a flavoured mix of traditional African beats, contemporary tracks, some reggae tunes and sweet-sounding ballads, all heart moving praise and worship songs,\u201d he said Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The musician said he has gained lots of experience as well as international exposure over the years and it includes sharing the stage with the likes of Bishop TD Jakes, Rebecca Malope and Benjamin Dube.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough the years, I have worked with Joyous Celebration music director Siyanqoba Mthethwa and Mahalia and, together, we have led a strong music team perfecting worship in South Africa,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The artist received international recognition with two successive albums Yesu Aliko and I Feel Jesus nominated twice for the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Crown Gospel Awards (Best of Africa). His other album is Tonthola.<\/p>\n

He has since said that he will be unveiling some of the gospel music heavyweights that will spice up the event as well as releasing some songs ahead of the launch.<\/p>\n
