Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>The Catholic head in Malawi Archbishop Thomas Msusa says the Commission of Inquiry report on the arrest of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) director Martha Chizuma shows that the country has taken a wrong direction in the fight against graft.<\/p>\n

Msusa said this on Friday during a farewell party in Blantyre for a long serving official of the Catholic Church\u2019s social development arm, Catholic Development Commission (Cadecom).<\/p>\n

\u201cMalawi is going backwards in as far as winning the war on corruption is concerned,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He cited circumstances that surrounded the arrest of Chizuma and the report of government\u2019s ignorance on the matter as a sign that the system is failing to collaborate in taming corruption.<\/p>\n

He therefore called on government and all its agencies to swiftly deal with corruption and nepotism elements within the system, which he says have reached worsening levels and are deliberately derailing the progress in the fight against corruption.<\/p>\n
