Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Blantyre rivals FCB Nyasa Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers started their campaign for the preseason international bonanza with mixed fortunes ahead of their crunch affair this afternoon.<\/p>\n

Wanderers fell prey to visitors UD Songo who scored twice in the second half to win the match whereas Bullets settled for a goalless draw against Ferrovia\u0301rio de Nampula.<\/p>\n

Regardless of Friday\u2019s results, the most appetising fixture involving traditional rivals Bullets and Wanderers is on display this afternoon in a three-day international bonanza.<\/p>\n

In an early kick off, the organisers of the competition Bullets and Ferrovia\u0301rio de Nampula could not find the back of the net. In the last fixture for the day, UD Songo proved too good for Wanderers after the visitors claimed a 2-0 win.<\/p>\n

Bheu Januario scored with a superb strike from a free-kick in the 62nd minute with the other goal coming from Dario Meio in the 86th minute. In the match, Wanderers rested Miracle Gabeya for new signing Lawrence Chaziya.<\/p>\n

However, both teams played cautiously as they failed to break into the final half. The Mocambola league\u2019s last season\u2019s champions were the more organised side but lacked fire power.<\/p>\n

Both teams made changes in the second half but Januario hammered a strike from just outside the 18 yard box from a free-kick past Wanderers goalie Richard Chipuwa to break the deadlock and give the visitors in the lead.<\/p>\n

The Nomads tried to get an equaliser but the visitors defended in numbers and gave no room for penetration. Meio capitalised on Wanderers\u2019 lapse in defence when he fired from a difficult angle from the left flank to break the hearts of the Nomads family.<\/p>\n

Wanderers Coach Mark Harrison conceded that his team was second best on the day. \u201cWe gave away silly goals and after that we lost composure and discipline and that was the problem,\u201d he said. UD Songo Coach Carlos Manuel was happy that the players that he entrusted delivered.<\/p>\n

In an early kick-off, The People\u2019s Team fielded a new look team when coach Kalisto Pasuwa entrusted the young stars in the likes of White Kisten, Yankho Singo, Thomson Magombo, Stanley Billiat and Righteous Banda to stop the visitors.<\/p>\n

The home team combined well in the opening stages but lacked experience to get something from the game. The visitors \u2018despite dominating in the last half\u2019 failed to use their experience to punish the hosts. The visitors will face each other in the early kickoff before the local derby thereafter.<\/p>\n
