Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>The news trending on social media to the effect that Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has demanded swift action on public officers who abused COVID-19 funds both under the initial MK6.2 billion and the MK17.8 billion allocations is good news to hear.<\/p>\n

The fight against corruption by Tonse was a campaign tool blended in the Chakwera Hi-5 strategy which appeared to be a serious battle once elected into government.<\/p>\n

It is disappointing to see that little or nothing is taking place on the ground. The Tonse leadership is equally smeared with corruption which they accused the previous government. This looks like we have been cheated by the double standards leaders who have done the opposite in just two years.<\/p>\n

PAC\u2019s reinstated chairperson Shadric Namalomba must be commended for coming out in the open revealing that there is no progress on cases against suspected civil servants. PAC must have strong and powerful leadership which is aimed at rooting out corruption with speed and accuracy.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, many leaders have been betraying this country with false promises in order to win elections. We have evidently seen the Tonse government hesitating to actually fight corruption head on. All we see is injunctions against the arrest of suspected corruption business persons and some individual politicians. The fight against corruption is just a speech mostly.<\/p>\n

In the recent past several civil servants were arrested but most of them ended up being reinstated and their cases were dropped. What is the meaning of all this? It appears the corrupt individuals are being protected by the corrupt government. What else can we honestly say?<\/p>\n

The revelationa coming Chair Namalomba that the K17.8 billion audit report which National Audit Office (NAO) said it issued was never brought before his parliamentary committee is clear testimony how corrupt and rotten Malawi is.<\/p>\n

It will take us ages to build this nation because there is too much corruption in our midst. One reason Malawi will fail to develop is that we don\u2019t love this nation but we love ourselves more than the country and future generation.<\/p>\n

The focus of our leaders is on how best they can steal our tax payers money and how quickly they can dubiously become rich in few years. The worst mistake, however, is to work with young leaders. They are the ones who are destroying the nation much faster than anybody else because they are always in haste when doing things.<\/p>\n

Our young leaders are always in a hurry wanting to become rich within few years in power or even within two years. The end result is Malawi keeps falling down to the ground.<\/p>\n

At fifty eight years, Malawi still cannot stand on its own but borrow money for development of every kind. We continue to borrow money to build secondary schools throughout this country and steal the same money and finally fail to payback each time then arrest the suspects and finally fail to prosecute them in court.<\/p>\n

The whole story is a waste of time listening to and a waste of resources to investigate by the same corrupt system. I mean we won\u2019t get anywhere with all this spoiled mindset.<\/p>\n
