Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>National Football Coaches Association of Malawi (NFCA) says has made losses from the initiative it organized over the weekend to support Enos Chatama and McDonald Nginde Mtetemera who lost their houses and properties due to Cyclone Freddy.<\/p>\n

The association organised two fundraising matches involving Kamuzu Barracks FC, Civil Service United FC and the area 30 outfit Blue Eagles FC. The first match took place at Champion Stadium in Mponela, Dowa on Saturday, April 1, 2023, that saw Kamuzu Barracks FC and Blue Eagles FC equaling power 1-1.<\/p>\n

The second match was played at Aubrey Dimba ground Kapiri-Mchinji and Kamuzu Barracks FC were 1-0 victors over Oscar Kaunda\u2019s Civil Service United FC. Nelson Kangunje scored the lone goal at 18th minute in the first half with an assist from Kelvin Hanganda.<\/p>\n

However, the patronage in the two venues was not convincing due to the bad weather characterized with rainfalls that contributed for the loss. As per Aubrey Nankhuni Chairman of the NFCA,they spent over MK1.2 million in preparations for the two games including expenses for the three teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe initiative didn\u2019t go as per our plans, the games have been affected by rainfall hence low turn up. Right now we can\u2019t disclose as to how much has been realized from the games as our treasurer is still working on reconciliation\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are still requesting stakeholders, well wishers and individuals to support the initiative to reach out to our two coaches who were affected by Cyclone Freddy. Let me thank the three teams, Blue Eagles FC, Kamuzu Barracks FC and Civil Service United FC for accepting our request\u201d, Nankhuni said.<\/p>\n

After the game in Kapiri-Mchinji at Aubrey Dimba ground Civil Service United FC coach Oscar Kaunda hailed his boys for the well displayed game despite the loss.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe boys are jelling up well, we can say we are ready for the league kick off with what we have seen today. It was a good initiative only that the turn up was very low\u201d, Said Kaunda.<\/p>\n

Kenwood Nkhoma assistant coach for Kamuzu Barracks FC sympathised with Enos Chatama and McDonald Mtemetera for what they experienced during the Cyclone Freddy saying they are equally concerned.<\/p>\n

Nkhoma said the play from his boys gives him courage that they would do better in the league. He acknowledged Civil gave them a good game. NFCA organized the matches with support from Powertex Corporate limited, SULOM and other individuals.<\/p>\n
