Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Minister of Education Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima, has said government is committed to achieve the human capital development in order to meet Malawi 2063 agenda. Wirima made the remarks during the second graduation ceremony at Nalikule College of Education in Lilongwe on Thursday.<\/p>\n

She said Ministry of Education through it\u2019s National Education Sector Investment Plan for the period between 2020 and 2030 (NESIP 2020-2030) aspires to increase equitable access to education; improve quality and relevance of education and enhance governance and management of education systems at all levels , including the higher education sub-sector and this will in turn, help the country to move towards a wealthy and self reliant-nation that is industrialised to upper-middle income status by 2063 as envisioned by Malawi 2063 and it\u2019s first 10-year implementation plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am sure we are all aware that a core enabler of the Malawi 2063 vision is human capital development, underpinning the work of developing human capital is the belief that the thrust of any economy is its people as they are the ones that design programmes, implement strategies and create innovations.<\/p>\n

\u201cHuman capital development is dependent on a soundeducation system that trains and prepares ourchildren and youth for employment and entrepeneurship in a knowledge-based,industrialised economy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The minister added that this requires, as outlined in MIP-1, that all children are in a position to complete 12 years of education that includes secondary education.<\/p>\n

She said to achieve this goal, it is required to massively scale up Malawi\u2019s secondary education system, which at the moment only enrolls 16% of secondary school age children and only accommodates 50% of those children that pass their Primary School Leaving Certificate Examinations(PSLCE).<\/p>\n

The principal for Nalikule College of Education, Dr.Daniel Khasu appealed to the graduands to shine as they serve the country industriously. The graduation saw 182 learners being awarded degrees in various academic disciplines.<\/p>\n
