Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Just three months before opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) goes to elective convention in July this year, there has been rumours and speculations of potential presidential hopes to take the leadership of the party for 2025 Malawi\u2019s general polls.<\/p>\n

A number of potential presidential candidates have emerged going out flat out to social media to gunner support ahead of July elective Indiba. This publication has gathered prospective list of presidential candidates with their vice or runningmates for 2025 polls if are elected during July DPP convention.<\/p>\n

The presidential candidates including Dalitso Kabambe, Kondwani Nankhumwa, Bright Msaka, Joseph Mwanamveka while DPP leader Peter Munthalika remains doubtful if he might stand for the convention considering his age and legacy left after losing 2020 presidential elections.<\/p>\n

With information at our hands the presidential candidates have also identified their deputies ahead of July elective convention as following; Dalitso Kabambe will go along with Alfred Gangata, Kondwani Nankhumwa and Jappie Mhango, Bright Msaka and Henry Chimunthu Banda while Joseph Mwamveka is with Mganda Chiumia.<\/p>\n

The presidential candidates might change their deputies along the way based on popularity. One of DPP Central Executive member told this publication that the elective convention will be tough one considering the type of candidates shown interests for 2025 presidential polls.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe might have more candidates ahead of July 2023 convention. Some might be pulling out of the race depending on their popularity and resources on the ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, DPP convention will be more interesting if our leader Peter Mutharika will stand again during the convention. Our leader has been showing interest to stand for general elections in 2025 but its doubtful of his age. Mutharika is making comeback calls just to settle the tension locking the party\u2019s succession leadership plan, \u201cdiscloses DPP Central Committee member.<\/p>\n

This publication understands that there is social media fights among these presidential candidates with their deputies to attract party members votes ahead of the convention and general public popularity.<\/p>\n
