Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has unveiled a K60 million sponsorship to the women\u2019s football of which K29 million will be used for national women\u2019s team, the Scorchers for the COSAFA tournament next week in South Africa.<\/p>\n

At a ceremony on Friday in Lilongwe, Bushiri said announced that K10 million will be used for allowances since the Scorchers has been facing numerous challenges on getting their their dues while the remaining K21 million will go towards Goshen Women\u2019s Football League.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a serious gap, and we wanted to fill up the gap by supporting women\u2019s football,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is relationship will exist between Goshen brand and the football fraternity.\u201d Bushiri challenged the football fraternity that his commitment will tremendously grow for improving the sporting activities in Malawi.<\/p>\n

Football Association of Malawi (FAM)!president Walter Nyamilandu expressed his gratitude over the sponsorship saying: \u201cThis has never happened before for the Scorchers\u201d \u2014 adding that the boost of the players allowances with K10 million will help to uplift their thin pockets.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn these hard economic times, it is not easy to get a sponsorship like this,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are extremely excited over this gesture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s football president, Adelaide Migogo said the sponsorship will unlock doors of opportunities: \u201cThis is part of the women empowerment and we should do better so that others emulate.\u201d<\/p>\n
