Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>The Malawi Police Service says it does not have any evidence linking Information Minister Moses Kunkuyu to the Lilongwe murder cases and has cautioned the public against circulating false information.<\/p>\n

This comes on the sidelines of a voice recording that implicates Kunkuyu following the arrest of his personal assistant, Lester Maganga, as the main suspect in the murder case of Coca-Cola Beverages Company employee, late Allan Wittika.<\/p>\n

However, MPS through the national public relations officer Senior Superintendent Peter Kalaya said currently police don\u2019t have any information that implicates the minister of information.<\/p>\n

Senior Superintendent Kalaya in a statement said it is criminal to be circulating false information on social media pertaining to ongoing investigations of murder cases in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cMalawi Police Service (MPS) strongly warns and cautions members of the public against creating and circulating false information on social media pertaining to ongoing investigations of murder cases in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe service has noted with great concern that some people are deliberately circulating misleading information in which they are implicating innocent individuals which is a crime punishable by law.<\/p>\n

\u201cMPS does not have any evidence connecting Honorable Moses Kunkuyu, Minister of Information and Digitalisation to any of the cases it is investigating as purported in one misleading WhatsApp voice note,\u201d reads part of the statement.<\/p>\n

Senior Superintendent Kalaya said MPS is currently following up on those behind the malicious audio clips and says when arrested, they will be charged and prosecuted accordingly as per the Electronic Transactions and Cyber-Security Act.<\/p>\n

He further said the service will continue giving out regular updates to Malawians on the progress of its investigations and calls for all to cross-check with it for facts.<\/p>\n
