{"id":553,"date":"2020-12-23T15:36:22","date_gmt":"2020-12-23T15:36:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/malawi\/?p=553"},"modified":"2020-12-23T15:36:22","modified_gmt":"2020-12-23T15:36:22","slug":"mkaka-meets-somalilands-president-bihi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/malawi\/all-news\/mkaka-meets-somalilands-president-bihi","title":{"rendered":"Mkaka meets Somaliland\u2019s president Bihi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/malawi\">Malawi<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Malawi Minister of Foreign Affairs Eisenhower Mkaka over the weekend held talks with Somaliland President Muse Bihi.<\/p>\n<p>The two met at the Somaliland presidency in Hargeisa on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Mkaka during the visit was accompanied by Mr Martin Tom and William Bambi from Malawi\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is responsible for Africa and the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>The two discussed ways of strengthening the relations between the two countries<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the meeting, Bihi expressed concern that Somaliland and its people are yet to receive their full recognition in Africa and the world despite fulfilling the necessary requirements.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, the Malawian Foreign Minister conveyed his greetings from the President of Malawi Lazarus Chakwera to the Somaliland leader. Mkaka also thanked Bihi for welcoming him warmly.<\/p>\n<p>During the visit, Mkaka and the Malawian delegation met with various branches of government to observe Somaliland\u2019s progress and democracy.<\/p>\n<p>Somaliland is a self-declared country which is internationally recognized as part of Somalia.<\/p>\n<p>The country declared independence in 1991 and has as a working political system, government institutions, a police force and its own currency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Malawi.
