Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) could have chosen Njamba Freedom Park in the Southern region where it enjoys massive support as it is its stronghold.<\/p>\n

It is therefore obvious that the move to conduct a DPP rally in the Malawi Congress Party\u2019s stronghold is very strategic. Furthermore, Malawians are aware that it was in Lilongwe in 2020 when demonstrators forced Prof. Peter Mutharika to use a dusty by-pass road.<\/p>\n

It will be therefore good proof that the DPP has regained popularity if a mammoth of people attend the DPP rally at Masintha ground which is in MCP\u2019s stronghold.<\/p>\n

Prof Peter Mutharika\u2019s comeback<\/b><\/p>\n

There is a high chance that former President Prof. Peter Mutharika (APM) will announce his decision to stand again as the DPP\u2019s torchbearer in the coming 2025 presidential elections.<\/p>\n

Firstly, APM showed interest in standing again when he announced at a Mulakho wa Alhomwe function that he would be DPP\u2019s torchbearer if the 2020 fresh presidential elections were to be nullified by the Constitutional Court.<\/p>\n

Secondly, APM refused to call for an early elective DPP convention that would have paved the way for the new leadership of the party. Thirdly, APM is quoted to have said that he had been requested by various Malawians including traditional chiefs, DPP supporters, and ordinary to stand again in 2025.<\/p>\n

Such a request was made on the basis that it is only Prof. Peter Mutharika\u2019s visionary dynamic leadership that will address the economic woes currently faced by innocent Malawians.<\/p>\n

Some Malawians believe that Mutharika\u2019s comeback will enable him to continue the socio-economic development development projects he initiated in his first term of office.<\/p>\n

The last but not the least reason why APM wants to bounce back is because he feels bitter that the incumbent President Chakwera robbed him of his 2019 presidential election victory. APM has expressed his bitterness in various ways.<\/p>\n

It is on record that APM called for a press conference where he vehemently accused the Constitutional Court of staging a judicial coup d\u2019e\u0301tat by nullifying the 2019 Presidential election.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, It seems like APM has vowed never to meet his successor, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, face to-face at any other public function till the 2025 General elections. Malawians are aware that APM has been shunning any public function that has been attended by Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.<\/p>\n

Atrocities perpetrated by Chakwera\u2019s regime<\/b><\/p>\n

At Masintha Ground, APM is expected to outline socio-economic atrocities and hardships many Malawians are currently facing. Even though President Chakwera has admitted that he is allergic to empty campaign promises, it is interesting to note that inflation rate, corruption, standard of living, joblessness, suicidal incidents, nepotism, regionalism, selective justice, and poor public service delivery are on the rise.<\/p>\n

A message of hope<\/b><\/p>\n

APM is expected to wind up the rally with a message of hope and assurance that it is only DPP that will bring back the lost glory. Economic sanity will reign again.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, the DPP rally will provide APM with an opportunity to articulate issues of national importance. The ball is in his hands so let us get the first-hand information from the horse\u2019s mouth.<\/p>\n
