Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>FCB Nyasa Big Bullets can already smell their fifth TNM Super League after earning a hard-fought 0-1 victory at Karonga United on Wednesday afternoon. Patrick Mwaungulu\u2019s header in the 7th minute of the game proved decisive in securing the vital three points for the people\u2019s team.<\/p>\n

The victory means Bullets are a single point away from guaranteeing a sixth straight league crown when hosting second-place Silver Strikers who are three points behind and need to beat NBB by a four-goal margin to snatch the league title away from Bullets\u2019 grasp.<\/p>\n

The encounter played at the Karonga Stadium in front of a mammoth crowd, saw the visitors who had gone four league matches without a win seize early control.<\/p>\n

Yamikani Fodya had the first attempt on goal as his 25-yard direct free kick in the 3rd minute forced Karonga\u2019s keeper, Sunganani Mponda, into a spectacular flying save.<\/p>\n

Their persistence paid off in the 7th minute as Mwaungulu skillfully headed in a precise cross from Ephraim Kondowe to hush the home fans into silence.<\/p>\n

However, as the first half unfolded, the home side grew into the game. Victor Chilambo squandered a golden opportunity, heading wide after Elie Kayombo\u2019s shot rebounded from the post into his path.<\/p>\n

In the 37th minute, Hassan Kajoke missed a chance to double the away side\u2019s lead, shooting wide after capitalizing on a back pass from Chilambo. In the second half, the hosts, eager for an equalizer, began strongly, asserting dominance over the ball.<\/p>\n

Substitute Tony Nyongu, a tall and lanky figure, posed a constant aerial threat after replacing the disappointing Allen Chihana. Despite their lion\u2019s share of possession, Bullets seemed more poised to extend their lead as Lanjesi Nkhoma and Kajoke both came close with efforts that tested the opposing defense.<\/p>\n

Despite asserting late pressure to grab the equalizer the visitors hung on to the precious three points. Meanwhile, post-match interviews failed to take place as the game ended in chaos as some Karonga United fans began to throw stones from the stands.<\/p>\n
