Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Malawi has assumed as Coordinator for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) on the climate change adaptation programme in the ongoing COP28 summit in Dubai. Malawi takes the coordination role from Senegal.<\/p>\n

National Youth Network on Climate Change (NYNCC) National Coordinator Dominic Nyasulu told Malawi Youth\u2019s virtual meeting on Monday, December 11, 2023 that the development gives the country more opportunities to explore on climate change adaptation programmes.<\/p>\n

Nyasulu expressed optimism of Malawi benefitting more from the position. He therefore called upon Malawian youth to use the opportunity by advancing their agenda on climate change adaptation programme in their localities.<\/p>\n

Echoing the same, John Chipeta, Save the Children International\u2019 Senior Advocacy, Campaigns, Communications & Media Manager, who is part of the country\u2019s delegation to the Summit, says expectations are high towards children welfare at the end of chairship.<\/p>\n

With financial support from Concern Worldwide, NYNCC has organised a series of virtual meetings for Malawi youths to follow the ongoing COP28 summit in Dubai.<\/p>\n

The Monday, December 11, meeting which was held in the capital Lilongwe attracted youths from high learning institutions, including Mzuzu University (Mzuni), Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar), University of of Malawi (Chanco), Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU), Lake Malawi Assembly University LAMAU) and others.<\/p>\n

Madalitso Zawanda, one of the youth participants, hopes for the better towards the fully scale of climate change adaptation programmes on young people and children.<\/p>\n

NYNCC board chairperson Christopher Bauti who participated the virtual meeting also expressed optimism of better Malawi youths\u2019 adaptation programmes implementation.<\/p>\n
