Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>The Malawi Police Service (MPS) in the capital Lilongwe is keeping in custody Amos Katengeza, 27, on suspicion that he orchestrated and actively participated in the brutal murder of his sister Agnes Katengeza.<\/p>\n

The late Agness aged 44 at the time of her brutal killing was a network administrator at the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM). Katengeza was found dead in her official Sportage car in September this year, behind Gateway Mall.<\/p>\n

Lilongwe police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu told this publication that the suspect Amos is a brother to the deceased from another family and was staying together with her before the murder. According to Chigalu, the suspect is also said to have been the one who reported Katengeza missing to police.<\/p>\n

The police publicist disclosed that law-enforcer investigators had seized an ENVY HP laptop, an iPhone 13 mini cellphone which he sold in Mozambique, an iPad, a power bank, expandable luggage, and a carton containing cosmetics all belonging to the deceased.<\/p>\n

TO: COMPOL CWR FROM: LL INFO: DCP CWR, RCIO DATE: 14\/12\/23 PROGRESS REPORT MURDER\/ROBBERY Ref to my crime strep dated 25\/09\/23 on the subject matter which Occurred on 24\/09\/2023 at around 1300 hours at area 47 sector 1, behind Gateway Mall in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n

The case was reported by Miss Egnat Katengeza, Date of birth 10th October 1974, Village Kalembo, Traditional Authority Chiwere, District Dowa, who reported that her sister Agnes Katengeza, Date of birth 13th May 1979 of same Village who was working at Reserve Bank of Malawi as Network Administrator, Lilongwe branch got murdered by unknown criminals who dumped her at the boot of her official reserve Bank vehicle, Sportage BY 4159 grey, parked it behind gateway mail and went away with her valuables such as ENVY HP laptop, iPhone 13 min cellphone, Ipad, power bank and expand loaded with cosmetics<\/p>\n

Now be informed that Supt George Oscar Mizere SCIO Lilongwe police station and party have arrested Amos Katengeza DOB 23\/04\/1996 Vge Kachitsa T\/A Chiwere D. Dowa who is directly connected to the case.<\/p>\n

They have further recovered all the valuables robbed from the deceased during the traumatic murder incident as follows: 1) ENVY HP laptop 2) iPhone 13 min cellphone<\/p>\n

3) Ipad<\/p>\n

4) Power bank<\/p>\n

5) expand and cartoon loaded with INUKA produces<\/p>\n

Facts are that, since the incident happened, SCIO Lilongwe police station and the party had been gathering intelligence intensively from various sources. On 07\/12\/23 the team went to Blantyre to trace iPhone 6, the property of the deceased which was stolen from the house of the deceased almost four months before the incident.<\/p>\n

The aim was to get the phone and retrieve some perceived useful information from its hard drive. While in Blantyre, the team landed in the hands of a phone technician who admitted to having received the wanted iPhone 6.<\/p>\n

He further disclosed that he wiped out the iCloud account of the phone bearing the name of the deceased. Upon intensive interviews, he mentioned receiving iPhone 13, iPad, and laptop and wiped passwords however, all gadgets had the deceased\u2019s iCloud accounts.<\/p>\n

He pointed out the suspect as the one accountable for all the gadgets. The investigations team launched a manhunt for the suspect and successfully arrested him at Blanytre market. Upon searching his bag, he was found with an iPad and a power bank all the properties of the deceased robbed during the murder incident.<\/p>\n

The Suspect was adamant about disclosing where he sold the laptop though the team managed to recover the ENVY HP laptop from a certain businessman within the Blantyre market who pointed out that he received the same from the suspect.<\/p>\n

The chance of recovering the iPhone 13 min was very slim since the suspect couldn\u2019t say anything and the phone was not in the network systems within Malawi.<\/p>\n

However, through a well-coordinated network of informants, the team discovered that the phone was sold at Maputo in Mozambique using an agent-based at Namwera in Mangochi.<\/p>\n

Effort was made to retrieve the phone back to Malawi and it is now in the hands of investigators. The phone was also sold by the same suspect at K500,000.00<\/p>\n

A preliminary inquiry discovered that the suspect was party to the offense. He has voluntarily admitted to having taken an active part in the brutal murder of the deceased.<\/p>\n

The call log of his phone number clearly showed that he was at the site where the body of the deceased was dumped. This has been revealed by analyzing his call log about the time captured on the CCTV footage the time when the vehicle of the deceased was being damped behind gateway mail.<\/p>\n

Soon after the incident, his accomplices left all items in his custody as part of his awards in addition to the promised monetary deal. He sent the items to his girlfriend in Blantyre through courier services.<\/p>\n

The suspect is a brother of the deceased from another family. He was staying together with the deceased before he betrayed her and was the one who publicized early news that the deceased was missing on 23\/12\/23 at around 14:00 hours soon after her killing.
