Africa-Press<\/a> – Malawi<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera Saturday took time off his busy schedules and visited two of Malawi\u2019s most decorated music legends, singing sensational Lucius Banda, his elder brother, the iconic songbird, Sir Paul Banda and their brother, Francis at their home-base in Balaka District.<\/p>\n

Chakwera, accompanied by First lady, Madame Monica Chakwera visited the three Banda brothers who have been ill for sometime now as a gesture of solidarity as well as wishing them a Godspeed recovery.<\/p>\n

Malawi music kingpin, Lucius Banda, who for over the past two decades has been the voice of the oppressed voiceless through music and political activism is President Chakwera\u2019s advisor on youth and arts.<\/p>\n

Writing on his Facebook page after the visit the Malawi leader said: \u201cMonica Chakwera and I just left Balaka, where we stopped by the home of Hon. Lucius Banda, my Special Advisor on Youth and Arts. He added: \u201cWe stopped by to see him and his family, and to cheer them up and pray with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier, after the president left the presidential state residence in Mangochi, Chikoko Bay for Lilongwe, President Chakwera made first stop to see construction site of a water treatment centre in the Lakeshore District, where he was briefed about the progress of works on the facility.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told the workers that these construction jobs, our administration has created should be used to produce quality results. Ntchito simalo koma zochita,\u201d said.<\/p>\n

While in the Eastern region President Chakwera presided over Medical Doctors Conference, where he pledged that his Government will overhaul the entire health system to give it a good face.<\/p>\n

Veteran musician Lucius Banda, was first admitted at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre. Lucius Banda who is popularly known as \u2018Soldier\u2019 in the music echelons then travelled to South Africa for further medical examination and treatment for a suspected kidney failure.<\/p>\n

His mentor and his brother, the legendary Paul Banda and his other elder brother Francis also got ill at the same time. In an interview Lucius Banda registered his both appreciation and admiration to and for his boss and the Republican president saying he and his family are greatly honoured by the visit.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI would love, on my behalf and on behalf of my family, to express my deep gratitude to the president of Malawi Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, who was accompanied by our mother, the mother of the nation, Madame Monica Chakwera for coming to cheer us up and pray with us.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a great honour to our humble family and we thank the president and the first lady for the love and above all else for the humility.\u201d<\/p>\n

Banda also thanked Malawi\u2019s vice president, Dr. Saulos Chilima who also paid him and his family a visit of solidarity earlier on saying he and his family feel blessed beyond measure. Since the Banda brothers fell ill thousands of people have visited Lucius Banda\u2019s abode in Balaka to cheer him and his family up.<\/p>\n

Lucius Banda is the biggest music icon of all times in the South-eastern former British colonised nation and has consistently been on top of his game for two decades and he has over 20 best selling albums under his belt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
