Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>Jenda Police have recovered K10 million of the K11 million stolen in Mzimba and have arrested 29-year-old Moses Phiri on suspicion of stealing the cash from the house of the Joel Traders Manager.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on January 22, 2024, in Jenda Section 2C. Lontia Manda, the manager, reportedly finished work on the said date with 11 million Kwacha in weekly sales. She took the money home, waiting for it to be collected by her boss.<\/p>\n

That night, the suspect allegedly broke into the manager\u2019s house and absconded with all the cash. Manda reported the incident to Jenda Police Station, prompting investigations that led to the suspect\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n

Phiri then directed police to his father\u2019s house in Shayona, Kasungu, where K10 million was discovered hidden in a small plastic bag in a maize field.<\/p>\n

Phiri has been charged with burglary, while his father, 54-year-old Felson Phiri, faces charges of receiving stolen property, contrary to sections 309(2) and 328 of the Penal Code.<\/p>\n

They are scheduled to appear in court following the completion of necessary paperwork. Moses and his father are residents of Gawanani village, under the Traditional Authority Wimbe in the Kasungu district.<\/p>\n
