Africa-Press – Malawi. <\/strong><\/span>The government has terminated the contract for the construction of the K32 billion Thyolo-Makwasa-Thekerani-Makhanga road.<\/p>\n

Roads Authority (RA) spokesperson Portia Kajanga has said that \u201cthis is because the resources for the work have been depleted. The contract has been closed at 77 kilometers out of the project\u2019s 82 kilometers.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Kajanga, the remaining resources have been channeled into fixing the areas that were damaged by Hurricane Freddy last year.<\/p>\n

The Centre for Social Accountability and Transparency (CSAT) Executive Director, Willy Kambwandira, has described the development as unfortunate, saying, \u201cIt demonstrates a lack of prudence in the usage of taxpayer money.\u201d<\/p>\n
