Africa-Press<\/a> – Malawi<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>From two consecutive losses, Moyale Barracks Football Club, on Saturday managed a goalless draw that earned it a single point against fellow soldiers, MAFCO FC, who registered a third draw at Mzuzu Stadium.<\/p>\n

It was a must win game for Moyale Barracks but the visitors seemed to be rough and physical in their initial approach of the game.<\/p>\n

Just in the first minute from kick-off, Moyale Barracks marksman Gastin Simkonda was knocked down and the match had to be stopped for some time. When he returned onto the field of play, he continued receiving a series of knocks until he picked an injury that could not allow him take further part in the game. He was replaced by Chamveka Gwetsani.<\/p>\n

As is always the case when these two military sides meet, the game lacked excitement as it was played with no clear pattern. Peter Kasonga for MAFCO headed the ball from Kingsley Nkhonjera\u2019s cross three minutes before recess but goalkeeper Simeon Harawa was alert to tip the ball over the cross bar.<\/p>\n

Two minutes from pep talk, Moyale\u2019s Clifford Fukizi missed a very clear chance when he shot wide, alone facing the goal mouth.<\/p>\n

Walusungu Mpata for MAFCO also ballooned the ball over the cross bar when he was unmarked in the 60th minute.<\/p>\n

Seconds before referee Mercy Kayira blew the final whistle, Hassan Upindi who could have won the match for Moyale Barracks, also shot wide with just goalkeeper Jairos Kapalamula to beat.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the match, MAFCO coach, Yohane Fulaye, said it was unfortunate to miss some scoring opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe lacked composure in front of goal. Again, our midfield was a bit disorganised. We hope to settle down in the league and start registering wins,\u201d explained Fulaye whose team has earned promotion from the second tier league.<\/p>\n

Assistant coach for Moyale Barracks, Prichard Mwansa, said he was not happy with the result as he hoped for maximum three points.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to get three points but we have failed again. We missed a lot of chances. The players worked hard but failed to score. We will have to work on scoring,\u201d said Mwansa.<\/p>\n

The Lions of Kaning\u2019ina are still anchoring the TNM Super League log table with just a point from 3 games while their brothers in arms, MAFCO, are on position 9 with 3 points from three matches.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
