At his appointment ceremony in Dakar on March 26, 2026, Lame set aside his trademark shrug and delivered a powerful message celebrating his heritage and Africa\u2019s rising global influence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am proud to be Senegalese and proud to be African \u2013 and we will make this first Olympic event in Africa a resounding success,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis commitment reflects my desire to support young African talent, both in sport and beyond. Dakar 2026 will give our continent the opportunity to showcase the best of itself and inspire young people in Africa and around the world. It is a chance to demonstrate that, as well as being resilient, Africa is a force to be reckoned with,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Dakar 2026 Games, scheduled for October 31 to November 13, will mark a historic milestone as the first-ever Olympic event hosted on African soil. Lame joins a high-profile ambassadorial line-up that includes acclaimed actor Omar Sy, Senegal national team captain Kalidou Koulibaly, and football talent Eva Neymar.<\/p>\n

Lame\u2019s inclusion reflects a strategic effort to connect the Games with a younger, digitally native global audience. He rose to international fame during the COVID-19 pandemic through his \u201ckeep it simple\u201d comedic videos, which resonated across cultures and languages.<\/p>\n

For Lame, the role carries deep personal significance. Born in Mbacke\u0301, Senegal, before relocating to Italy, he is expected to use his global platform to ensure the Games leave a lasting impact on local communities. He will play a key role in the Youth Olympic Games Torch Tour across Senegal, with a particular focus on promoting social inclusion among young people in his hometown and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

President of the Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee, Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye, said Lame\u2019s appointment reflects the growing excitement around the Games. He highlighted the influencer\u2019s unmatched global reach and strong connection with younger audiences as critical assets for an event designed to celebrate the next generation.<\/p>\n
