Africa-Press<\/a> – Malawi<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>After successful exhibitions of The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind in Zomba and Blantyre, visual artists Madalitso Ziwaoh and Charles Levison took another step to reach out to art lovers with the exhibition in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n

The exhibition, which also saw Ziwaoh and Levison conducting art lessons within the programme, started on Friday and ended yesterday at Black Pepper.<\/p>\n

Art Global Malawi in conjunction with Moving Windmill Project made sure art lovers in the the capital city were not left out of the exhibition, which seeks to appreciate the story of innovator William Kamkwamba.<\/p>\n

Kamkwamba\u2019s story has appealed to many and saw Hollywood star Chiwetel Ejiofor producing a movie which was shot in Kasungu District, the home of Kamkwamba.<\/p>\n

Ziwaoh and Levison thought it wise to come up with an art exhibition and tell Kamkwamba\u2019s story using artworks.<\/p>\n

The previous two exhibitions in Zomba and Blantyre saw Ziwaoh and Levison working with players such as Samuel Ndalema but, due to inadequate time for preparations, the exhibition in Lilongwe only featured their works.<\/p>\n

Ziwaoh said Sunday they were happy to have connected with Lilongwe through the exhibition.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are happy with how things have gone for the three days. We have sold some paintings and on top of that we also have managed to hold art lessons,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Unlike in Zomba and Blantyre, where they also showed their skills in live painting, Ziwaoh said they did not manage to do so in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n

He said since they started the project, it has opened up opportunities for them and that next up is another exhibition in Kasungu.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople have been asking for our paintings through online and other platforms with this exhibition.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will announce the dates for the exhibition in Kasungu and, being the home of Kamkwamba, we are looking at doing art lessons as well as other projects,\u201d Ziwaoh said.<\/p>\n

He said they were also happy that through \u2018The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind\u2019 exhibition, people are now having interest in art and that many are buying paintings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
