Des chercheurs ont tent\u00e9 d\u2019identifier quels comportements parentaux permettaient d\u2019enseigner plus efficacement cette routine aux tout-petits.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Va brosser tes dents. \u00bb Tout parent qui se respecte a r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9 cette phrase simple un nombre incalculable de fois. Mais est-ce suffisant ? Que faudrait-il faire de plus pour que nos charmants bambins int\u00e8grent durablement ce r\u00e9flexe indispensable \u00e0 une bonne hygi\u00e8ne bucco-dentaire ? Une \u00e9quipe am\u00e9ricaine a men\u00e9 l\u2019enqu\u00eate.<\/p>\n<p>Ces chercheurs de la University of Pennsylvania, la Yale University, et du Sante Fe Institute ont recueilli les donn\u00e9es portant sur 81 enfants \u00e2g\u00e9s de 3 ans, en plein apprentissage du brossage dentaire. Les parents devaient filmer leur enfant pendant la s\u00e9ance du soir, et ce durant seize jours. Ce qui permettait aux chercheurs d\u2019observer le comportement de l\u2019enfant et d\u2019entendre le discours des parents. L\u2019encourageaient-ils et comment ? Et cela avait-il un effet sur l\u2019effort fourni par l\u2019enfant en mati\u00e8re de brossage ?<\/p>\n<p><b>Encouragez et\u2026 \u00e9vitez les instructions<\/b><\/p>\n<p>La plupart des parents encourageaient leur enfant par des \u00ab c\u2019est bien \u00bb, \u00ab tu es une grande fille \u00bb, \u00ab bravo \u00bb ou encore en chantant ou en transformant le brossage en jeu. Mais bien s\u00fbr les encouragements n\u2019\u00e9taient pas aussi nombreux chaque jour, et ils \u00e9taient parfois associ\u00e9s, ou remplac\u00e9s, par des instructions sur la marche \u00e0 suivre.
