Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Mauritius, Dr Alya’a Samir Borhan, paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirasing Roopun, this afternoon, at the State House in Réduit.
In a statement, Dr Borhan said that the meeting with the President was cordial while emphasising that discussions focused on further strengthening bilateral relations between both countries on various fronts.
Cooperation in terms of medical, pharmaceutical and tourism, especially bringing more students to study in Egypt and more cultural troops to Mauritius and vice versa were on the agenda. The international situation with the Russia and Ukraine war and the refugee crisis in the world were also brought forth at the meeting.
President Roopun, she added, extended his appreciation as regards Egypt’s support to Mauritius on the Chagos issue and also expressed his solidarity with Egypt in trying to find a solution regarding the Nile River dam dispute.
The second round of the Egyptian-Mauritian Friendship Group will be focusing on culture and creating an alumni for students in Egypt, the Ambassador stated.
