Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Deputy Chief Constable Vanessa Jardine and Commander David Lawes from the UK are currently in Mauritius, at the initiative of the British High Commission, to meet senior stakeholders from the Mauritius Police Force (MPF) including the Commissioner of Police, Mr A.

K. Dip, members of the Police Force and law enforcement agencies. The objective of this visit is to exchange information with the MPF and identify areas where the UK could support delivery of Mauritius’ law enforcement strategic plan.

Security, efficient law enforcement and cyber are critical sectors for both the UK and Mauritius. The UK is keen to consider areas where Britain might support Mauritius in the implementation of its Police Strategic Plan.

Throughout this mission, DCC Jardine and Commander Lawes, who both have extensive domestic and international experience, will hear firsthand about the structure of the MPF, the critical role it plays in ensuring law enforcement in Mauritius and its policing strategies.

DCC Jardine and Commander Lawes will visit various sites including the Police Training School. These visits will enable them to identify opportunities for cooperation, including in leadership, command and control and cyber.

‘The purpose of the Police is to uphold the law; to prevent crime; to pursue and bring to justice those who break the law; to keep the peace; to protect, help and reassure the community; and to be seen to do this with integrity, common sense and sound judgement.

These are core values we share with our Mauritian counterparts. DCC Jardine and Commander Lawes’ visit demonstrates the UK’s commitment to supporting Mauritius’ ambitions in security and law enforcement.

We look forward to deepening our partnership with the Mauritian Government on these important issues. ’ said the British High Commissioner to Mauritius, H. E. Mrs Charlotte Pierre.
