Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Ambassador of Sweden to Mauritius, Malawi and Zimbabwe, Ms Åsa Pehrson, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo, this afternoon, in his office in Port Louis.

In a statement, Ambassador Pehrson highlighted that her meeting with Minister Ganoo was cordial and that discussions focussed on the excellent bilateral relations between Mauritius and Sweden.

She pointed out that areas of shared interests such as environment, climate change, and gender equality, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccination campaign in Mauritius were also considered.

Furthermore, the Swedish Ambassador indicated that views on the relations between the European Union (EU) and Mauritius, the situation in Ukraine following the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, as well as the political dialogue, held annually, were shared.

“Minister Ganoo made a request for bilateral relations to be strengthened and same will be conveyed to Stockholm,” she added. The Ambassador also recalled that she presented her credentials to the President of the Republic of Mauritius back in November 2021.

Prior to taking up her position as Ambassador to Mauritius, Malawi and Zimbabwe, Ambassador Pehrson was Minister Counsellor at the Department for Foreign and Security Policy, at the Swedish Permanent Representation to the EU, in Brussels.
