Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Adviser and Manager of the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub, Dr Oldman Oduetse Koboto, paid a courtesy call, today, on the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.
In a statement, Dr Koboto highlighted that the meeting with Prime Minister Jugnauth was cordial and that discussions focussed on issues that generally affect the entire world such as the threat caused by climate change, which is a development challenge for many countries.
He indicated that opportunities for developing project proposals concerning adaptation and mitigation for Mauritius, as well as the necessary resources required by the Mauritian Government to develop climate change related projects, were also at the agenda.
Furthermore, Dr Koboto informed that the meeting was also an opportunity to touch base on Budget 2022-23 and to look at how the initiatives to be undertaken by the Mauritian Government, in respond to the impacts of climate change, can be supported by International Climate Finance in order to ensure livelihood of Mauritian citizens.
