President receives Adviser and Manager of Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, received, today, the Adviser and Manager of the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub, Dr Oldman Oduetse Koboto, at the State House, Le Réduit.
In a statement to the Government Information Service, Dr Koboto said that he had an interesting meeting with President Roopun, adding that discussions centered on issues generally impacting the international community as well as specific ones that affect Mauritius.
He dwelt on the President’s commitment to issues relating to adaptation and mitigation of the impacts of climate change. He also spoke on the Nationally Determined Contributions whereby Mauritius has pledged to reducing its emissions by 60% by 2030.

Cross-sectoral issues to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with high adaptation capacity potential with a view to improving the livelihood of people, particularly in the local agricultural sector and the fishing industry, were also highlighted by Dr Koboto.
