
Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Prime Minister, Mr. Pravind Jugnauth spoke this Thursday, December 15 at the plenary session of the U. S-Africa Leaders Summit 2022. The head of the Mauritian government focused his speech on a prosperous Africa, based on inclusive growth and sustainable development.
Addressing the leaders present, the head of the Mauritian government paid tribute to the reaffirmed commitment of the United States to the development of Africa. Mr.
Pravind Jugnauth stressed that Mauritius remains determined to achieve the objectives of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and that our country intends to play its full role at this level.
Addressing the theme of climate change, the head of government recalled the specificities of small island states. While affirming that Mauritius is already working to reduce its gas emissions and to use renewable energies, Mr.
Pravind Jugnauth appealed to our international partners to honor their commitments in terms of financing and technology transfer. The Prime Minister also dwelt on Mauritius’ desire to become a regulatory center of excellence for the African Medicine Agency through the emergence of a pharmaceutical industry.
Mr. Pravind Jugnauth also stressed the need to have the support of our international partners in matters of maritime security, especially to combat illegal fishing, piracy and drug trafficking.
