The quarantine is reduced from 14 to seven days for visitors vaccinated as of September 1. This is indicated by the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) in a press release issued on Tuesday, August 24.
The tourist office says it is relying on the successful vaccination campaign against Covid-19. He specifies in the press release that 56% of the population thus has a complete vaccination schedule against 63% for first-time recipients.
For the director of the MTPA Arvind Bundhun, this decision is a major step forward on the sidelines of the unconditional reopening of borders on October 1 to those vaccinated with a negative PCR test within 72 hours before boarding.
Visitors and vaccinated Mauritians will then be able to explore the island without having to go through 14 days of quarantine in a “Resort Bubble” as is currently the case.
