Africa-Press – Mauritius. The lawsuit brought against Jean Hubert Célerine, alias Franklin, for driving without a license and possession of cannabis was called in court in Bambous, Monday, May 8, 2023.
His lawyer, Me Alexandre Leblanc, requested a dismissal. Franklin will appear in court again on May 25. In September 2016, elements of the Anti Drug and Smuggling Unit of Rose-Hill arrested Franklin in Tamarin.
A sum of Rs 326,000 was found in his car and cannabis rolled with cigarettes as well. On February 16, the DPP recommended that Franklin be prosecuted in this case and that the case be referred to the IRSA and the Anti Money Laundering/Combatting the Financial of Terrorism Task Force. Separately, Franklin will be back in court in Bambous today to hear about Magistrate Vidya Mungroo-Jugurnath’s decision on his motion for parole.
