Minister Ganoo meets Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Mauritius

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo, received, yesterday, in his office in Port Louis, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Mauritius, Archbishop Tomasz Krzysztof Grysa.

Archbishop Grysa is officially visiting the country from 24 to 29 April 2023, following his nomination as Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Mauritius by Pope Francis on 21 March 2023.

Prior to meeting Minister Ganoo, Archbishop Grysa presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun. During his visit, Archbishop Grysa will also meet the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, and other personalities in Mauritius and Rodrigues.

It is noted that Archbishop Grysa also serves as Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Seychelles and the Republic of Madagascar, and as Apostolic delegate to the Union of the Comoros.

An Apostolic Nuncio is an ecclesiastical diplomat, serving as an envoy or a permanent diplomatic representative of the Holy See to a State or to an international organisation.

A nuncio is appointed by, and represents, the Holy See, and is the head of the diplomatic mission, called an Apostolic Nunciature, which is the equivalent of an Embassy.
