Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Mauritius Digital Promotion Agency Bill was passed last night. During his summing-up, the Minister of Technology, Communication and Innovation (TCI), Deepak Balgobin, stressed that this bill will replace the National Computer Board Act and will set up the Mauritius Digital Promotion Agency.
The agency’s board will consist of a chairperson, a representative from the Prime Minister’s office, a representative from the Ministry of ICT, as well as a representative from the Attorney General’s office.
In this same context, Avinash Teeluck, Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, stressed that this bill aims to strengthen the information and communication technology sector through the development of skills and innovation.
It also plans to ensure basic ICT skills to all sections of the population and advise ministers on national policies for the promotion and development of ICTs.
