In the context of the presentation of the National Budget 2023/2024 to be held on Friday 02 June 2023, members of the press were briefed, yesterday afternoon, by various Units of the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development in Port Louis regarding the last few preparations for press coverage.

Key Units responsible for the preparation of the Budget shared their experiences on this important task requiring several weeks of dedicated teamwork.

The Deputy Financial Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Anandsing Acharuz indicated that the preparations are reaching their final stretch. His team and himself are currently involved in verification and cross checking of all figures, he said.

The Permanent Secretary, Mrs Bibi Fatwma Abdool Raman-Ahmed spoke of the collating and binding that are done in this specific unit engaged in the final phase of the Budget.

Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mr Darmalingum Davasgaium pointed out that the IT Unit with a team of 20 persons will be engaged till late night in the formatting of documents that are to be printed.

It is to be noted that the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Dr Renganaden Padayachy, will be reading the National Budget, today, in the National Assembly in presence of the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament.
