In his keynote speech, Minister Padayachy qualified the signing of the tripartite partnership agreement as a crucial step in Mauritius’ journey towards an ever more robust, inclusive and sustainable economic future.

The Finance Minister recalled that Government’s economic strategy to guide the country towards strong and sustainable economic growth is based on three fundamental pillars, namely diversification, innovation and inclusion.

EDB, he pointed out, plays a crucial role in promoting investment in Mauritius and will benefit from this tripartite collaboration with the French partners to attract quality investment and stimulate growth and promote sustainable development.

The Minister added that it will ensure that the EDB has the necessary tools to carry out its mandate, in line with market requirements and international best practices.

He also expressed gratitude to the AFD for its continuous support in various projects aimed at promoting sustainable development and an inclusive economy.

Furthermore, the Dr Padayachy observed that the relationship shared by Mauritius and France is based on mutual respect, renewed trust, and a firm desire to develop fair, sustainable and inclusive cooperation.

He emphasised that this new partnership will contribute to a mutual exchange of skills and experience while strengthening the mutually beneficial economic relationship between Mauritius and France.

As for the French Ambassador, she underlined the key objective of the partnership between the two countries, which is to support the economic development of Mauritius on the international front by strengthening the institutional capacities of EDB and fostering trade relations between France and Mauritius.

According to Mrs Caussé-Tissier, the undertaking of this new partnership is testimony of the close bilateral relations between France and Mauritius. She also stated that this innovative cooperation will be beneficial for both EDB and Business France.

Also present on the occasion, the Director of the AFD in Mauritius, Mrs Laëtitia Habchi, who deemed this tripartite partnership to be a promising cooperative venture, highlighted that all the concerned parties will tap into new avenues of collaboration in areas such as circular economy and sustainable finance.

She informed that the project is being implemented through AFD’s Fund for Technical Expertise and Experience Transfers, for which a sum of EUR 340,000 has been earmarked to operationalise the cooperation programme between EDB and Business France.

Mrs Habchi added that the project will be equally financed by AFD and Business France, and remarked that a technical expert has been assigned to Mauritius. Tripartite Partnership Agreement
